Alternate Night Outs: SPIT Therapy

spit-magnet.jpg

As you know, this personal blog talks mostly about my geeky adventures between my work in traditional and new media. Today I’d like to concentrate a bit more on the “geeky adventures” part. I’ve been part of an informal, silent, and non-violent movement that helps people discover night life outside Greenbelt. Not that I have anything against it, but sometimes, clubbing and malling can have a high diminishing returns rate.

If you want something “different” to do on a Tuesday or Thursday night, you could go try SPITting. Yep, SPIT. Silly People’s Improv Theater. The podcast on their site doesn’t do the show justice actually. You should come and leave your inhibitions out the door and enjoy a good time. If you’re a fan of Drew Carey’s Whose Line is it Anyway, then this is a good gauge of what you can expect in every episode of SPIT. For theater and art geeks (and anyone else) who can appreciate a fun laugh!

The troop is led by Gabe Mercado, who is also one of the guys behind Geek Chorus. Other members include Asia Agcaoili, Missy, Aryn, Bibay, Joel and the rest of the gang!

Schedule:
Tuesdays 9:00 PM at the new mag:net at Bonifacio High Street (behind the Nike Outlet Store)
Thursdays 9:00 PM at mag:net Katipunan

P200.00 gets you in with a free drink. It’s so worth it!

Stock poetry and a few words about Poetry.com

I used to submit poems to Poetry.com several years ago. Since then, the site has sort of redesigned itself into something more Web 2.0-ish but retained its slow loading speeds and hard to use navibar. They even used to invite me to buy a “Best of Poetry.com” book with my poems included inside, and then I realized that it was really just a marketing strategy to sell these things. All of my friends from the PH who ever contributed got that letter too. Fishy. Crafty. Potent!

Writing poetry was a hobby back in college for the sole reason that it was easier than writing a play. I guess it took me just a few minutes to write one work as compared to over 14 days to write a 30 minute play with 4 roles. From my knowledge, one page of script took up about 1 1/2 minutes of acting time.

In any case, I hope you enjoy my work. I usually don’t put titles to my poems. This would mean that the title is the first line.

BuggedCast Episode 5 – “Blogger, Behold Thy Podcaster”

podcasting-booth.jpg

This was the first time I set foot into a mobile podcasting studio, though thinking about it I never really knew that you could port a recording studio by just adding water. Worth P200,000, it is supposed to be your friendly portable podcasting box for recording anywhere, anytime.

I have several guests for this podcast, and we all fit inside the 4 x 4 box. One of my guests was Pocholo Gonzales of Creativoices and we talked about the voice acting industry, dubbing TV shows, the life of a voice actor and of course, podcasting.

The show is done mostly in my local language of Filipino.
