Here’s a little gem that may have gone unnoticed. For those familiar with everything 3rd party Apple, Incase isn’t known for making audio accessories. In fact, if you scroll down their website, their headphones and earphones are pushed down way below their casings for other Apple products. I actually had no idea they made headphones and that they were even being sold here in the Philippines. So I managed to bag their high end model (Sonic Over Ear headphones)from their distributor and take it for a spin with several games of Diablo III. Here goes nothing:
There was a brilliant article written a couple of weeks ago illustrating how in the near future (meaning the next 2 years) there will be two kinds of photos — the (1) photos that capture events and the photos that (2) capture what you actually see:

And that’s how Facebook would differentiate with Glass. One gives you a summary while the other freezes a moment. In a way, Glass is like a visual Twitter.

On something completely different, people have asked if Glass will eat into the sales of GoPro? That’s assuming that Google successfully launches this product in the next 12-24 months and they manage to bring the price down to something consumer-friendly. As of late, it’s pegged at USD $1,500.00.
Looking at the tech, it might be easy to assume that these GoPro headsets will go the way of the pager, as the more advanced Glass technology relegates the core functions of a GoPro. But because Glass is so delicate, whereas GoPro cameras are built to rate in “extreme” environments, this may push the latter to focus on these types of active lifestyles such as SCUBA diving (GoPro cameras have o-rings… the sheer pressure would crush Glass).
So if you live in the Philippines, the announcement of the Google’s new Nexus 7″ “reading device” by ASUS should bring good news of great joy. Here’s the context: my father in law owns a Kindle Fire (apart from the more traditional Kindle) and if its one thing that it can’t do locally, it’s really almost everything. The Fire makes use of the Kindle sign in credentials and not your Google account which means you’re pretty much screwed if you’re going to avail of the cloud services and app downloads. No international support. This is odd because everything works fine on a “regular” Kindle.
There are more than two dozen board game titles on sale at Gaming Library’s “All aBOARD” anniversary meetup. The cardboard loving community has definitely gotten more interesting throughout the months as more and more Filipinos are looking for alternate ways to socialize. Board game nights are definitely epic.
Off the top of my head the good deals here include Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer for PHP 800.00 (read my interview with Justin Gary, creator of the Ascension IP), Star Trek (because it’s hella cheap), Ora et Labora because of the price cut, and Nightfall: Blood Country because of its low price for an expansion to the Nightfall deck builder. I’m a huge fan of board games. Some of you may already know this as I tend to write about some of my favorites once in a while. All of these games are imports from the US which I either order online and have friends bring home or grab from one of the many branches of Neutral Grounds (Glorietta + Alabang Town Center). All of these games are mostly fantasy, sci-fi or Euro themed so that got me thinking: Are there any board games revolve around a setting in the Philippines? Guess what? I found some. And they’re quite interesting.
