Microsoft Office 2013 Feature Breakdown Slideshow

It’s raffle time. Thanks to Microsoft! This is a big month — the guys behind Windows are making a big leap in rebranding themselves by shifting focus to DEVICES AND SERVICES and they’re starting this with the global launch of Windows 8 next week. This excites me because in the past, the OEM’s have always been the front liners of the Windows branding, putting Microsoft at the back seat with their software. But Q4 2012 marks Microsoft’s focus into the hardware space. If you take a look at their hardware track record, they did an amazing job with the XBOX and the XBOX 360 as well as the Kinect. The Zune, although defunct was a great device. Have you ever tried a Microsoft-branded keyboard and mouse? They’re fantastic. This year marks the start of that re-focus as they enter Windows 8 and computing on their Surface lineup.

Sony shows off country’s first 84-inch 4K TV; sells for PHP 1.2 Million

You need to see it to believe it folks. Yesterday, Sony Philippines pulled out a number of wildcards from Japan. Apart from featuring the new VAIO Duo 11 and VAIO Tap 20 both running on Windows 8, they were also the first to showcase an 84-inch 4K television which will be made available to the (opulent) public for the holidays. The XBR-84X900 is a wonder that goes (waaaay!) over and beyond the “traditional” 1080p resolution. This 4k TV comes with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and if those numbers mean nothing to you, it simply means that if you’re watching great blu-ray movies on your 40″ or 60″ LED TV, imagine even better “pop out” quality on a bigger 84-incher.

Samsung Galaxy Camera sells for PHP 23,990; why would you want one?

The Samsung Galaxy Camera (PHP 23,990) is a vagabond of sorts — not in the definition that it is impoverished, but because it wanders the thin line between being an Android device and a camera. Usually the definition for an Android phone unsurprising to include a camera but in this case, this device IS a camera.

Datablitz now selling PS3 Super Slim for PHP 11,150 (250GB) and PHP 11,650 (500GB)

Datablitz (add them on Facebook!) is now selling the PS3 SUPER SLIM in their retail stores. With the console still pulling in a lot of new games + the ability to play the same PS3 games on your PS Vita, there’s every reason to finally dig into Sony’s console ecosystem.

Best of all — it’s dirt cheap. There are many games to look forward to in the coming months including Playstation All Stars, Beyond, and the free to play Dust 514 over the Internet.

I got the PS3 Slim when it retailed for PHP 16,xxx and I have no regrets. Now that it’s about PHP 5,000 more affordable, I feel happy for those who are about to take the plunge into this amazing piece of work.

Pricing recap (CASH SRP)

P11,150 for PS3 Super Slim 250GB
P11,650 for PS3 Super Slim 500GB

Available Region: Asian (R3)

A month of trips, product launches and parties with a special word from Microsoft!

October is a busy month for tech and that comes to no surprise as this is the month that the IT companies roll out their aces in time for the holiday shopping spree. If consumers are going to spend for that new gadget, it’s going to happen within the next 90 days. Last week I just came from the province of Xiamen in China where local dealers and the media were given a tour of the Lenovo factory for tablets and smartphones. We toured the amazing phone museum (photo wall above) and several portions of the manufacturing process (photo below). The Lenovo plant churns out 15 million units per year with 2,799 employees. Together with Open Communications, Lenovo PH launched three killer devices for the holidays and will be unveiling their first Smart TV before Christmas.
