Verzio Envii at P29,900 in Manila

The Envii

Hey folks, I’m back and posting between the sniffles. My seasonal flu is spot on with the weather change. Because of this I haven’t really had the time to fiddle with something that came through the mail – the Verzio Envii, which is Verzio’s first Windows Mobile 6 handheld. First saw this little thing at the Verzio store in Bonifacio High Street and lookie here – there’s finally one in the mail.

I’ve been out of the loop with the pricing for Windows Mobile devices. The Envii costs P29,900.00 which isn’t exactly cheap but isn’t too expensive either. The P30k mark seems to be the price-point for most Windows Mobile devices.

Here is a rundown of the features you get for that price:

Marvell PXA270 Processor 624MHZ
Bluetooth
IrDA Connectivity (OMG this was surprising!)
SRS WOW HD Surround Sound
FM Radio Tuner
LED Strobe Flash with 2.0MP camera
miniSD expansion
HSDPA Connectivity
802.11g WLAN
Flick Dynamic Menu (ala HTC Touch)

I was pretty surprised with the inclusion of IrDA connectivity, a technology that was phased out by Bluetooth many months ago. But this is definitely a nostalgic approach as Asian countries still make use of IrDA in some applications.

I had to re-download Missing Sync v4 for the Macintosh. Back in the day I had v3 which was a complementary copy for review from Mark/Space. Turns out that with the arrival of Windows Mobile 6, Missing Sync’s upgrade now costs something, and I doubt the 14 day trial is enough.

On the bright side, I can go back to beta testing PPC games for Astraware. ๐Ÿ™‚

i didn’t realize you could sync a Windows mobile device with a mac. i guess if i want to buy this device i’d better go back to ms outlook. i hope you post an update and tell us whether the freezing and the automatic reset problems continue to plague windows mobile 6. used to work tech support for handheld devices and i know for a fact that windows mobile has yet to clean up their act. palm still works better, the last time i checked.

yes you could ๐Ÿ™‚ although i still prefer mac + palm syncing. however, palm seems to be heading the wrong direction as they haven’t been very aggressive with the market.

hi regie,

Verzio is a SG based company that opened shop in the Philippines. You may know Chris Uyco, from Haldane is the lead for this.

as for Flick Dynamic Menu, the UI highly resembles Vista’s take on Entourage. I don’t actually get to use it. It creates an iPhone-like interface for the menu albeit a bit laggy. So far I don’t find it very useful as it isn’t very responsive. Who knows, it could grow on me.

HELLO. WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU CAN HELP ME WITH A DUAL PHONE WITH WIFI. KINDLY EMAIL YOUR CONTACT INFO IF YOU WOULD BE KIND ENOUGH TO HELP.

hello ๐Ÿ™‚ i also saw this store in the high street. do you recommend their digicams? it seems a lot cheaper than the other brands. thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Good Morning, if i buy verzio envii how much is the current price? thanks, have a great day!!!
