“The adventure party is a family and Gary engendered family wherever he went.”
From their Facebook page:
A documentary that tells the story of the people that created Dungeons & Dragons and how its success affected their lives and families. The Great Kingdom is the story of families, blood and personal bond, affected by the success of the game, a game that brought joy to millions but heartbreak to its creators.
In 1969, Gary Gygax, a family man and game designer with an entrepreneurial mind meets Dave Arneson, another brilliant game designer from Minneapolis/St. Paul.
CG intro, plants (and more plants!) and the hint of time travel with the neat Back to the Future reference. It’s about time for Plants vs Zombies 2! However — based on the details on the website, the game will be launched exclusively on iOS for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch this coming July 2013.
Regarding the exclusivity, a Popcap representative had this to say:
I will keep putting this info out there today but I want the community to know, we are only exclusive to Apple first. We have plenty more info to hand out just not quite yet. When I have more news to share, I will indeed. And we are reading your comments and understand your concerns. That’s why I keep trying to post replies in here so you all know what’s up!
So it seems that the word “exclusive” actually means first to launch and that it should be available on other devices (Mac, PC, Android) after a period of time.
Kinda reminds me of Dead Space — if it was not sci-fi horror. Tom Cruise plays a drone repair dude and he’s also equipped to kill (just like the Dead Space miner!). Like most sci-fi epics, s#it hits the fan when he discovers that things aren’t what they seem and his world collapses when everything he thought was real isn’t.
I can’t stress it any more: iOS is the platform of choice if you’re a fan of modern (and classic) board games.
Summoner Wars is a fast-playing, action-packed 2-4 player card game. Players take on the role of Summoners: powerful beings who harness the power of mysterious Summoning Stones to lead their race to conquest on the war-torn planet of Itharia. These Summoners wield terrible magic on the battlefield, freezing their foes in place, draining their enemies of power, and even bringing rains of fire down from the heavens. But most notoriously, they summon their great race’s hordes of warriors to the battlefield, to clash in the never-ending struggle for supremacy. A Summoner is both mage and general, and must combine their wizardly might with clever tactics to defeat the enemy Summoner on the opposite side of the battle. [BoardGameGeek]
