This is how you decrease your electricity bill by a lot — Isang Litrong Liwanag

My friend Meg introduced this “light in a bottle” concept many months ago. It’s an absolutely brilliant innovation that was made many many years ago but seems to only be well organized now by a non-profit group led by Illac Diaz (@illacdiaz) and the My Shelter Foundation.

This is definitely a sustainable way to dispose of your old softdrink bottles — turn them into eco-friendly light sources for your homes. Also, it’s practically free! The solar bottle bulb project was developed by students at MIT under the principles of Appropriate Technologies, which are sustainable and affordable ways to help underprivileged communities acquire basic needs.

If you want to know more or wish to donate or help out in any other way — or even try it out in your own homes, check out www.IsangLitrongLiwanag.ORG.
