Apple Product Unveiling Next Week

apple_iphone_in_my_hands.JPG

Nope this isn’t a Steve Jobs keynote. This is a local product launch and its venue is still yet to be known. The first suspicion would be the launch of the iPhone in the Philippines but that is just too good to be true. I have a feeling that the launch, which will be from 11AM to 3PM some time next week, will unveil the following:

  • announcement of the new wicked Apple iMac
  • announcement of iWork ’08

The new iMacs scrapped the sub-20 inch displays and are now thinner and made of one slab of anodized aluminum. It also now has a black border and the keyboard itself has been redesigned to take up less space. The new iMacs come in two sizes: the 20-inch and 24-inch models, both with a small variant in tech specs.

The high end 24-inch model has these specs:

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics processor
256MB of GDDR3 memory
750GB Serial ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive
Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
24-inch model: 1920 by 1200 pixels
Bluetooth 2.0 EDR
802.11n AirPort Extreme
One FireWire 400 and one FireWire 800 port; 7 watts each
Total of five USB 2.0 ports: three ports on computer, two ports on keyboard
