Post Mothers’ Day Blog Entry

WARNING: Emo post.

This post is dedicated to my mom (visual cue in picture above) whom without her, I’d never be able to blog or podcast. A lot of people ask how old my mom is and to my knowledge she seems to be in her mid 50’s although she always tells me that she’s 16. Being a good son, I believe her. My mom is often times mistaken by others to be my older sister and that really pisses my dad off for obvious reasons.

For those of you who know me on a personal level, you may wonder where I got all my quirks from. It’s from my mom. Examples: She was praying to high heavens that she give birth on November 3 instead of November 2 because she didn’t want me to be born on All Soul’s Day. So she sorta kept me inside her and waited. She also does the funniest things at home like teach the dog how to pray or how she used to decorate my room and surprise me (ayayayayayay!).

My mother accounts for about 1 or 2 pageviews per month on this blog. She is a traditional media consumer as she is fond of reading the newspaper as well as technology reviews from Mobile Philippines as long as they are written by myself or Howard Paw. She’s been wanting to meet Howard for the longest time because she used to confide how she had a huge crush on him and how he “looks like a very nice young man.” I think she has a thing for Chinese-looking guys because she also likes Ming Tsai – that cook in the Lifestyle Network, and I quote – “he doesn’t sweat even if he’s on top of the steamer. He’s so neat!”

My mother knows exactly what I do at work. She knows what a “blog” is and she’s starting to slowly become more and more Internet savvy. I was even surprised that she knew how to disconnect the peripherals from the desktop computer as well as sign up for an online birth certificate ordering service so she can make multiple copies for reference purposes. She is a fast learner. She once fixed the television by herself and even did a good job one time fixing a lose wire on the subwoofers of the car. Now you know where I got my geekiness.

I love ye, mom! You’re geekier than me!

I wish my kids are bloggers too – so they can greet me in their blogs too… 🙂

You’re a sweet son. Belated Happy Moms’ Day to your mom!
