Innove Meet Update

When: August 31 2006 (it is not on the 30th anymore)
Where: Temple Bar, Greenbelt 2 | 8:00PM
What to expect
: It’s a surprise party (shhh!)

Kudos to Innove for seeing this through. There is a huge potential for non-traditional media. As products get more niched, consumers are slowly becoming more educated not by the big corporations but by the honest little bloggers.

First online ad network?

Yesterday I physically introduced PTB owner Abe Olandres to some guys from K2 Interactive, a nontraditional ad agency that goes beyond traditional tri-media. I say physically because the two parties had been corresponding via email for quite some time now, and being friends with people from both parties I introduced them. Putting this in Malcolm Gladwell terms, I’m a “connector,” Abe is the “maven” and K2 is the “marketer.”

Long Tail Tall Tale

It seems like 2006 will be the Year of the Blog in the Philippines. Local blogging projects are getting more hype. For one, I’ve seen an increase in the number of professional bloggers, mostly network writers. Second, we’ve been seeing more personal interaction among bloggers with regular blogger meetups. Third, we are seeing interest from agencies to use the power of the long tail for maximum and diverse reach.

Globe Innove is also catching on the concept of blogging and the viral campaign. And just today, another (traditional) company has approached me to ask about online campaigns because they “have no idea how to do one.”

3rd blogger meetup

UPDATE: I’m getting an overwhelming response from many parties. This by itself is already a good thing for Globe. Dinner cancelled. Just kidding! I’m trying to grab more slots to accomodate a lot more people. I hope you guys understand that this is not my event. I will try my best though. I will update you all over the weekend.

I was contacted by the senior brand manager of Globe Innove to help organize a short evening meet and greet for bloggers to try out the milieux of services offered by Innove, namely the wireless Internet capabilities deployed throughout the Metro as well as the provinces.

The objective of Innove is really to ride on the viral nature of blogging (i.e. The Mike Abundo Effect) in the Philippines by asking high traffic bloggers and pseudo-celebrity-status bloggers create buzz about their services, god or bad. Well, there isn’t much negative spin you can generate with Innove’s services, especially in the Metro, so good for them.

Since this event isn’t organized by me, I was given a slot limit for the evening. I already have about five people who are interested to join. Send me a comment if you’re interested. Note that to give Globe a bang for their buck, it would be preferable if your site has a relatively huge reach.

mid week update for 2nd blogging meet

All in all, we’re about eleven who are coming along for the blogging meet this Saturday at Italianni’s Greenbelt.

We’re going to be talking about SEO tips, the Filipino blogging culture, Pinoy blogging tsismis, the possibility of the first Blogcon in the Philippines, a webring project for all personal Pinoy blogs – all in the informal spirit of camaraderie, pasta, and beer.

I have a 20% discount card for Italianni’s so we won’t spend a lot. Coffee and dessert afterwards, for those who want to stay.

You can sign up by leaving a comment in this post.
