DesignCrowd enters Philippines enabling graphic artists to make more money for their talent

There’s nothing like a good crowdsource business model that benefits both clients and suppliers. In the garments business, I’ve had a few friends who were also graphic designers have me upvote a few tee designs for Threadless.com. If their designs were chosen, they’d get USD ,000 and have their work printed on shirts for sale.

But that’s for shirts. I’ve always believed that the whole “blogging thing” would help cater to writers who wanted to earn more money on the side for their work. Let’s face it — writers in the Philippines don’t get paid a lot for their talent and yes, the same does apply to graphic artists and art directors. Finding the creative balance to meeting client demands (in the case of fully employed artists) versus trying to make ends meet on a weekly basis (for Freelance Graphic Design Work) is indeed tricky.

In the past, I relied heavily on blogging gigs and a lot of magazine work to get by. If I was a designer, I wish Design Crowd existed 6 years ago (well good enough — they were founded in 2008) so I could work from the comfort of the nearest coffee shop. But anyway, it’s here. Finally. In the Philippines. DesignCrowd is accepting gigs from local graphic artists so they can earn money and work according to their pace.

But what’s even more interesting is what’s in store for clients. If you have a visual need for your company, why not crowdsource it? You can facilitate a contest via DesignCrowd and give out a cash prize for the best design. There’s a huge community of talent for that — about 97,000 designers are in the pool.
