Seriously, these link baiting techniques need to stop

[BIG VERSION HERE]

I grabbed this page with Chrome and added comments. Seriously?!

I’d probably expect this from an amateur, but The Independent is a newspaper. I’m all for these link-baiting techniques with attention grabbing headlines but there are NO FACTS to back this up. Not even a link to the “suggestion” source material. The headline clearly states that Facebook is “set” to stamp out online stalking but there’s no source material, merely a statement that implies a suggestion. Implies! A suggestion! Wow.

So I decided to look into the matter and found a bit of information on this — IT APPLIES TO GROUPS. NOT PEOPLE. And after reading it, the article implies something completely different from curbing online stalking. So two things: (1) misleading headlines are a no-no and (2) if you do find information about a new development, at least quote the source material.

O tempora, o mores.
