Globe Innove Aftermath

So Globe Innove made first contact with twelve bloggers on Thursday. The food was great, the free-flowing alcohol was even better.

There were two sets of interactions going on that night. First was the blogger-to-blogger osmosis effect where:

We did the typical “my PR is bigger than yours” spiel

We talked about what Adsense bought you last month

We pulled out our dSLRs and took photos, once more

The second type of interaction was the Globe-to-bloggers outreach program where they presented some of Globe’s new products, got feedback about some of their services, and analyzed blogger behavior which included their online schedule and other demographics.

Conclusions
As a “meet and greet” for bloggers, it was something we could have organized ourselves, but kudos to Globe Innove for taking the (baby) steps to recognize bloggers as a sizeable and highly influential demographic.

I just wish that the company had taken a more grand vision and actually have bloggers try out the menagerie of services they offered, as mentioned by J.Angelo in his blog.

The evening was basically a mix between a focused group discussion slash free consulting about trends in the blogging scene such as viral marketing, where Filipinos stand in today’s blogging industry, and advocacy.

As a blogger who helped organize this event, I am wondering what phase 2 of the plan will be, if there be any. The last thing I want to happen is to have companies take advantage of bloggers by pulling them into the “dark side of blogging” by buying them out without full disclosure.

Thank you Innove for the mojitos!

Thanks for the coordination though. The fun part was meeting everyone so it was still worth it. Maybe next time we should all talk to Globe Visibility group.

Hi Jayvee,
True, true. The meetup was sort of “hilaw” as Foucs Group Discussions go. I actually felt like it was some sort of test for some of the newbies from Globe Innove haha. Information exchange was basically one way, with us giving up a lot of information about blogging and some personal stuff, while they basically gave us glorified brochures of their services.

But despite that, I think that what transpired was an important step. As what was apparent, event the most tech savvy of people are clueless about the intricacies blogging.

Baby steps, as I alway say, we have to start with baby steps.

Now about another blogger meetup…..hmmmmmm…let’s organize something na!

@ jayvee- SM Mall of Asia will be a great venue too.

@Bimbo- hehe Globe Invisibility, It was something beyond their control. Looks like Innove and Visibility are not coordinating with each other. Calling GLOBE VISIBILITY

can i join the 2nd meet? I am handsome and have some ideas about love. I will give joe d mango a run for his money.

With regards to blogging, I have no idea whatsoever.

[…] There will be a blogging conference on the 25th of this month (September) from 7 to 10 PM at the National Sports Grill in Greenbelt 3, Makati. This is sponsored by Globe Innove who was also behind the blogger dinner that we had a few weeks ago, which reminds me that I haven’t really written about it. […]
